yog_sothoth
Can anyone explain why Calumet disappeared without warning? I understand a company can go out of business in changing times and a competitive market, but I am not used to seeing companies shut down so quickly that employees show up to a locked building. I am going to miss having a camera store close to work, but the real victims are the employees. Zero warning is not good behavior.

yog_sothoth
Interesting. Some people rise to tough challenges or at least end things gracefully. Others lie and leave random people in the lurch. With management like that I am not surprised they tanked.
ShunCheung
Typically, in this kind of situations, the owners and management still has hopes that some white knight would come through up to the last minute to inject new cash to rescue the company. When that doesn't happen and money finally runs out, they just have to shut it down. It may appear to be abrupt to those of us from the outside. Employees who are familiar with the situation from the inside can usually sense things weeks in advance.

BTW, there are already existing threads on this topic: http://www.photo.net/business-photography-forum/00cRoi
