finnegan
On Ebay, seller has little feedback, but description sounds intriguing. What do you think?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leica-Summicron-x-4-Leica-M6-collection-Elmarit-etc-/151184941487?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item23335321af
JDMvW
The first question I have is whether or not you are 5fin, the vendor.

Assuming for the moment that you are not, it's got 3 days to run so the price will probably go considerably higher. Returns are allowed, and of course anyone who knows which direction is up would pay through PayPal.
CoryAmmerman
I agree with JDM that the price will most likely go considerably higher. There has already been 17 bids by about 10 different people. The action will probably get a lot hotter at the very end of the auction. I've been sniped twice recently in the last seconds of a couple of different auctions (on much less expensive cameras). Some people wait until the very last seconds to put in a bid that they think will win.

By the way, if you find something that you think will be a good deal, it's probably not a good idea to bring it to everyone's attention. Someone else might agree with you and bid on it as well.
Gus Lazzari
This ad is an example of what not to do as a seller if you're after your max ROI. (Return On Investment)
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot; offering up three of the same focal lengths! (Three 50mm lenses)
Offering it as a starter Leica outfit would make sense as a 35-50-90-135,
not a 35-50-50-50-90-135...
koray_p
This is a beautiful set but it is a pity the seller is selling them as a bunch. If sold individually, this sale would have brought back something around $6000 if items were all in clean and good condition. I am curious what it will fetch this way.

K.
erik_l.
Gerald,
You seem to be pretty keen on getting yourself a Leica RF. In the past several days you have started a few threads asking for opinions on auctions. I think at the end of the day, the only person who can decide if the cameras you are asking about are worth the cost, is you.

My advice would be to stop drooling over every listing on eBay, and contact one or more of the many reputable dealers of Leica cameras and lenses. Call them, discuss with them what you are looking for, your budget, etc., and have them work with you show some examples of their inventory. Do this with several places (KEH, Pop Flash, Classic Connection, etc.).

You will get better service, probably a better camera, and have someone there to help you should a problem arise.

Good luck, I hope you find a great Leica!
mukul_dube
Sound general advice has been offered in your several earlier threads. That can and should be applied to specific options.
finnegan
Right Mr Dube. But I missed the boat on the pricing knowledge, better teacher/Prof. than student. And I'll stop drooling, that is self-repugnant and will itself end the desire for a particular camera-maker -- or any camera period fast. I also was trying to get some yardstick on pricing.
Thanks for all the help.
I'll do some self-education, reading, if any friend owns a Leica talk to him around career activities etc. After some of that just buy one, it's a crap-shoot getting anything, the world doesn't end, or skip it & use what I have in periods of photography-involvement.
Looking back on it: I've lived for 6 decades without a Leica and 2/3rds of that with no camera or alternately one owned and not used; frankly I'd rather buy some better health - maybe Ebay or KEH will put that up! - I could trade the Rollei.
thanks again and take care, good holidays etc... gf

wgpinc
If you can buy it for less than $5k, and if you want a Leica then it is a decent deal. You might be able to do it since it is Christmas season and not too many buyers in the market for Leica around right now. For me I would buy it, keep the 35mm Summicron and the current version 50mm Summicron, and sell off the M6 plus the rest of the lenses. I would use the money, maybe have to add a little to it, to buy a good clean used M9. JMNHO, good luck!
JDMvW
For the record, since eBay listings seem to fade away with time, the camera with the lenses and all sold for
US $5,888.00 for the following

Leica M6

35mm f2 SUMMICRON in silver chrome, version IV

5cm f2 SUMMICRON in silver chrome, version I (collapsible)

50mm f2 SUMMICRON in silver chrome, version II (rigid)

50mm f2 SUMMICRON in silver chrome, version IV

90mm 2.8 ELMARIT in silver chrome -

135mm ELMAR in silver chrome

As said, it was likely a mistake for the vendor to offer such a package (3 50mm lenses!) since separate listing might well have brought more.
koray_p
I did a quick research and the highest (in the last few weeks' time span) ebay prices for the following items, worldwide, were:

Leica M6 - US $1400

35mm f2 SUMMICRON in silver chrome, version IV - US $2200

5cm f2 SUMMICRON in silver chrome, version I (collapsible) - US $800

50mm f2 SUMMICRON in silver chrome, version II (rigid) - US $1600

50mm f2 SUMMICRON in silver chrome, version IV - US $1600

90mm 2.8 ELMARIT in silver chrome - US $800

135mm ELMAR in silver chrome US $400

So in total it is about US $8800, MAX. But this is only possible if all items were in the best condition across all ebay sales and the seller was with a very high reputation, and also a bit of luck and persistence.
Maybe the seller didn't do that bad considering this was their 3rd sale, overall?
K.
JDMvW
I'd certainly 'stipulate' that the seller did pretty well considering how it was marketed.
