william_f._robinson
Can anyone who might own a Fuji GS 645 SW, the manual focus camera with the 45mm wide angle lens, inform me whether they have a rangefinder. I have seen various secondary material that says they do, and says they don't. I've handled a GS 645 S with the 60mm which has a rangefinder, and a GS 645 SW without a rangefinder. I'd love to get a 4.5x6 portable camera with wide angle lens, meter and rangefinder, but am still puzzled whether the Fuji fits the job description. The new autofocus model seems a bit of expensive overkill. Thanks in advance William F. Robinson bill@rareamericana.com
john_gateley
Bill; The Fuji with the 45mm lens did not have a rangefinder. Focus was set on the scale on the lens mount. With a 45mm lens, depth of field at smaller stops is quite large. I found the lens quality to be excellent. A handy, light weight medium format camera to carry around. <p> John
chauncey_l._walden
Here I am following John again and agreeing with him. The only problem I've had with my SW is it not winding the film tight enough when using 220. A little judicious bending of the tension rollers has helped but I don't entirely trust it with 220 so I'm extra careful where I take a roll out. Focusing has been no problem (and would be even less if I bothered to use a tripod with it.)
