davewittemann
Hello all.
I am the proud new owner of a Bronica SQ-B. It came with a sweet 40mm lens. The lens does not have the built in flaps that act as a shade. The filter size in a whopping 95mm!! I shoot alot of landscapes in B/W and usually use a deep red filter. I can't seem to find a filter in deep red....Tiffen red 29 for ex...in that windshield size. Anyone have any ideas? Or have one that they'd be willing to part with? I found the regular red filter but not the deep red.
Thanks ina advance for any help.
Dave
q.g._de_bakker
You can save a buck or two (well...) by switching to a resin filter set, like the ones sold by Lee or Cromatek. Great quality, will fit even the larger lenses, and cost much less than glass filters.
But it will require an initial investment (filter holder with hood, adapter rings, that sort of stuff.) Aoresteen
Nikon made 96mm filters. I have a Nikon 96mm yellow that I use with my 300mm f/4 Pentacon lens. They did make a red one but I never bothered tracking one down.

Conkin makes a 96mm adapter for their filters

http://www.adorama.com/CK96Z.html?utm_term=Other&utm_medium=Shopping%20Site&utm_campaign=Other&utm_source=dealtime

henryp
B+W has red 95mm filters:
B+W 95 mm 091 Dark Red (029) Glass Filter = Mfr# 65072162
B+W 95 mm 091 Dark Red (029) Multi-Coated (MC) Glass Filter = Mfr# 66-099786
Also
Hoya 95mm Red #25A Glass Filter for Black & White Film = Mfr# B9525A, which is in stock.
BTW, 95mm is only "whopping" until you see a 138mm filter. :-)

Henry Posner
B&H Photo-Video

Henry Posner B&H Photo-Video
robert_marvin
I second the recommendation for Nikon/Nikkor 95 mm [not 96] filters, made for long obsolete zoom lenses and fairly inexpensive on the used market. I bought a few for my 50 mm Flektogon.
Aoresteen
Opps! Robert is right! I meant 95mm not 96mm. Chalk it up to another carbon based error.

skopar
This is a very old thread, and I hesitate to add to it so late, but it has been suggested by a few people that the Nikon 95mm filter will fit the Bronica S 40mm lens. While it is true that the threads will fit, I have also read that the Nikon 95mm filters should not be used with the Bronica SQ S 40mm as it actually touches and rubs against the front element of the lens. Not sure if this is true, but it was reported by someone who I believed also owned the same lens, as I do.
This is for future reference of anyone who is buying or owns a Bronica 40mm lens for the SQ series of cameras.
