Portfolio for school submission?

Hello everyone.

I'm in the middle of enrolling into various photo schools. More precisely, looking for PJ / photo documentary schools. Most of them ask anywhere between 15 to 20 images in a portfolio. I've put the following together and would love to hear your thoughts. It would help a lot!

I don't particularly like my 3rd set in there (the foundry workers), but it's all I got right now with very little time left. I've got other good photos which I've taken over the last 2 years, BUT they are all just good, travel clicks. None of them relate to one another if you understand what I mean. And I've been told it's good to have small series...

Anyways, hope to hear back from some of you. Much appreciated!

These are good, Patrick. I would lose #6 and #13. The others in those series are stronger. You're right about having a few nice series but don't be afraid of adding a couple, three single images especially if they are top notch quality, speak to your PJ/Doc goals and offer a unique viewpoint with strong visual impact. Good luck in school!

These seem very good to me as well. It may depend on the school, and how competitive it is to get accepted. If it's very

competitive, they may like to see more of a narrative, a specific commitment to certain issues, as your portfolio may be

interpreted as travel/tourist images in some instances. They may wish to see maybe a specific exploration of the issues of

steel workers, the environment, personal life, and of the wrestles as well, perhaps cultural aspects, something that shows

a specific commitment to the issues, a personal viewpoint, images made over a longer period of time, etc. The individual

images are strong it seems though.

Thank you all so much for your inputs!!

I've decided to get rid of #13. I too didn't like it too much, but just felt the "story" was incomplete at first without it... I'll see about adding 2 or 3 strong singles.

If anyone cares to see my first preselections of photos for portfolio which has a lot more singles: http://www.corbeauperdu.com/webportfolio/

Again, thanks for your time :)

Thanks!!

Looks like I was accepted in all 4 schools I enrolled in! Two in France, one in Belleville Ontario and one in New York.

I wonder about the one in NewYork (ICP)... It's a one year program, but very expensive.

Still waiting on a response back for a 5th school, RIT in Rochester...
