john_shriver
Have you checked the discoloration in the blue box on a light table, maybe it's really a processing problem.
As for the orange edge, that's refraction of the light passing through the edge of the film.
You're really worrying about areas outside the "useful imaging area" of your film.
Robin Smith
Agree, why worry about all this stuff on the edge? The blue box is either a processing issue or slight light leak or a bit of both. Your edges look pretty good to me. Stop worrying and start enjoying.
Robin Smith
hk_kim
Thanks guys, like Robin said start enjoying it kinda change my perspective.
My initial goal was to get a neat-cut full-fram 4x5 film scanned using fluid-mounting technique. But I guess the blue box are occurs every film although the other side that resembles blue box (as you know how 4x5 film looks like) does not show what's in the blue box: orange light-leaking look.
I'm not that worried with what's in the green box; orange ligne along with film edge. If I could get rid of what's in the blue box, that'd be awesome!
Robin Smith
Just crop it a bit - truly perfect edges are pretty rare I'd say. If you want a truly full frame shot they add "character" if you actually include the edge.
Robin Smith
bebu_lamar
It looks nice that way as you can see the border clearly.
tim parkin
It's processing that is causing the blue box colouration - flow around the edge changes denisities. I'd be more worried about the massive density change around the clip marks. This is caused by turbulence around the clips when developing.
You should develop yourself using a Jobo Expert Drum so you don't get these issues - they are one of the main reasons I hate dip and dunk developers.
Tim
