dhbebb
Does anyone know for sure whether Tri-X 35mm and 120 film (TX ISO 400, not TXP 320 ISO) is or is not discontinued in the US or in particular the UK? I'm trying to decide whether I need to buy and freeze a lifetime's supply or not!
paulcooklin1
Why, what have you heard to make you think Kodak will stop making Tri-X?
craig_shearman1
Have heard no such thing. And if it had happened, you can be sure photo.net would be filled with hundreds if not thousands of angry posts.
clay2
Still lots here in Canada at real camera stores (unless the all-digital ones, i.e. Sooters now)

Best regards,

/Clay

JDMvW
I haven't heard anything about stopping making it. It's still listed at http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/products/films/bw/triX2.jhtml?pq-path=13401
Lots of it still in my local store, too.
bethe_fisher
I wouldn't be surprised if that's the last Kodak film to stop production. I've seen no hints whatsoever of it going away anytime.
dhbebb
Thanks to all for responses. No, I have not heard any concrete suggestions that TX will be discontinued, I am just feeling a bit paranoid considering that Tri-X Professional (TXP) has I believe been discontinued and that the discontinuation of Ektachrome 200 caught me out and forced me to sell my RB67 outfit and Fuji GW690III and switch to a Canon 5D MkII. I want to do a large retirement project with 35 mm Tri-X and don’t want anything to get in the way!
steve_mareno1
Anything is possible, but I also would think that this is the last film that would be discontinued. HP5 would work for me if it did happen. Nothing wrong w/ stocking up though, no matter what.
malcolm_myers
AG Photographic in Birmingham or 7dayshop sell Tri-X in 10-film bricks. I've started stocking up, not because I think it'll stop production but simply that the price will rise. I'm better off investing in film than putting my money in a savings account! I wish I had stocked up on Velvia 35mm some years ago as I now only have a couple of reels left and the new price is too high for me.
photo-gear
For a while I also thought that Tri-X would be discontinued, taking into consideration the Arista Premium 400 (in Freestyle) was out of stock. Now only 24 and 36 rolls are available, no more 100 feet roll though.
Mike Gammill
First the Arista Premium version goes, then the Kodak? Isn't that the way Plus-X disappeared? Freestyle has the short-dated 100' Tri-X on sale, but also has some with a more generous date. I have a couple of rolls of the Arista Premium 400 in cold storage, but maybe it's time to get another roll or two.
