m_.
Travis: I have been using my elmerit 28/2.8 along with my 'lux 35/1.4 and really like the angle. But i did not like the 28 as much as the 35 so the 35 was going with me on the trip but not the 28. if you want a great working elmerit 28/2.8 lens, contact me. the glass is perfect but the body is not. I just got a M-Rokkor 28mm lens in the mail so I think I will need to let something go. Ohg yeah, you can see some pictures of the lens in one of my folders. michael_matsil
Well....I think we've established that a 28 is wider than a 35 and a 35 is tighter than a 28....and by how much. But what about the distance of the photographer to the subject with either of these lenses; which is what makes choosing a lens interesting sport. I personally like the 28 when I'm among people (perhaps on the street.) When you get in close (but not too close) the images convey a nice three-dimensionality and intimacy in my opinion. You also can't beat the depth-of-field tolerance for fast shooting at close range.
lee_shively
Like John, I also remember reading that Winogrand used 28mm for at least some of his photography. I may be wrong but I think I read that he used two M cameras with a 28mm Canon lens on each. But he probably used various equipment over his career. In "Winogrand 1964", there's a self portrait of him using an SLR that looks like a Nikon F.
larry_miller5
I would take the 28mm anytime. Not only for street shooting but landscapes. My pancake 28 Voigtlander is a real jewel. I use it along with the pancake 40mm Voigtlander and the Nikkor 85mm F1.8 AF-D. It'a sweet set up and light.
