Recommended Posts

New Yorkers!
Join Tom Persinger (long-time photo.net member and recent writing contributor) and F295 at B&H Photo Event Space in New York City on Thursday, July 25th - 4:00 PM. There, they'll officially introduce the new iOS App Cameleon starting with a lecture, Q&A, discussion, and app overview. After, you are invited to go on a fun iOS powered photo walk on the High Line. We've heard mutterings of a potential stop at the beer garden as well...
What is Cameleon exactly?
"Cameleon moves iPhone photography beyond toy filters, lenses, and kitschy film packs. We don't lock you into pre-defined looks and kitsch effects, but give you direct control over the five essential elements of an image: Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Sharpness, and Hue so you can dial in your own awesome, signature photographs!"

Thanks photo.net for helping to spread the word! I wanted to add that Cameleon V1.1 will be out any day now and it has many fixes and improvements including exponentially faster save times (V1 is too slow!) as well as a number of other things.
If any of you are at the NYC event, please say hi and mention that you saw it on photo.net - I always love meeting other p/net photographers!

Hi Tom - Yesterday, I downloaded v1 to my iPhone 4s, and it seems to work fine except for one thing: It says that it is saving the photo, but then the photo never appears in my "camera roll" or anywhere else that I can see. Any ideas?

Hi Tom- Thanks for your note! You are correct that Cameleon works great with the iPhone 4 and I'm glad you're giving it a try! I'd suspect that when the app asked for access to your photo roll you tapped No? if so, the app is unable to save pictures. Rest assured that Cameleon only access your photo roll to save images and for no other purposes. To change this, tap Settings >>Privacy >> Photos >> and then change the Cameleon slider from Off to ON. If this isn't the case please let me know...
also, V1.1 will be out in the next few days and it will greatly expedite the save time - stay tuned!

Hi Tom - Thank you for the quick response. Fortunately, or unfortunately, when I first ran into this problem, the very first thing I tried was your suggestion (ie, to make sure the privacy settings allowed your program to access the photo roll). It was set correctly. Any other suggestions?

Thanks again,

for others: Tom and I exchanged email and discovered that he has an iPhone 4S which Cameleon 1.0 does not support.
The only officially supported device is the iPhone 5, however it does work w/ iPhone 4, all iPods w/ cameras, and iPads 2, 3, 4, and mini. iOS 6+
We're actively working to officially support older platforms.. stay tuned!
