Hello Nikonistas, and a good Wednesday to all.

DON'T WORRY! This young squirrel was seen the next morning looking a lot less unhappy. But at twighlight, on the evening when we saw the little guy sitting unhappily on his rock, he appeared to have been in a scrap with one of the very territorial adult squirrels that police the ground below the bird feeder.

After he spent an hour or so recovering from his full-contact encounter, he was back to foraging for seeds. We've seen him regularly since, looking bigger every day. I think his dueling scar will get him lots of dates when he hits squirrel puberty.

So, got any shots that are worse than they look? Share!

Hi I'm so looking forward to everyone's photos. It's a joy to see what everyone posts every week. I don't always participate, but I always look. I hope my sizing is OK - I "played" with my cropping this time & I know the longest side is OK as well as the size of the files. But they look "strange". If I need to change or correct - - just let me know...
I've continued to work on my birds in my new location & these are my offers this week. Still the D300 with the Sigmonster 300-800mm f/5.6 Sigma

This a side of view of a granite sculpture by artist Ellen Rothenber, erected in 1996 and located in Lowell Massachusetts, America's first industrialized city. The front of the sculpture is an analog clock face showing fourteen hours and the complete side text is from a labor petition dating from January 15, 1845, and reads as follows:

We the undersigned peaceable, industrious and hardworking men and women of Lowell, in view of our condition --- the evils already come upon us by toiling from 13 to 14 hours per day, confined in unhealthy apartments, exposed to the contagion of air . . . hastening upon us through pain, disease and privation, down to a premature grave, pray the legislature to institute a 10 hour working day in all of the factories of the state.

Signed
J.Q. Adams Thayer
Sarah G. Bagley
James Carle
and 2000 others, mostly women

At the same time those jobs in Lowell paid well, and offered many women and immigrants the chance for their own American dreams, not to mention providing a great deal of world trade and development in the 19th century and spawning technical innovation. As with anything it's a complicated story, but I also like the appearance of the sculpture and this photo.

00bcpK-536067584.jpg.5b57c7d3651ff261d7d21c406d8a3119.jpg

Good morning - some lovely shots indeed. I like the bird and the dog images.
I traveled from Montreal to Brooklyn New york this past week-end. The spring blossoms were at their peak at the Botanical Gardens and I grabbed a few shots. Here is one.

00bcq2-536079584.jpg.72186ef233b3d8bf38d8600fff3b5b3c.jpg
