how much is this worth?

Recommended Posts

wondering if anyone can help me figure out what this equipment is worth to sell. I have had these for a while, bought used and I have no idea how old they are really.

Mamiya RB67 body, well used. Has some scuffs and places where paint has worn/chipped off
2 film backs
2 lenses which say "Seiko" on them 3.8-32. They seem to be exactly the same. Also have some scuffs/scratches, well used.
a flash meter, Sekonic L-358

also looking for tips on the best way to sell. I live outside Fort Wayne Indiana. I could try Craigslist of course. I suspect a local camera shop wouldn't give me much for it, but I could be wrong.

Try to sell here on photo.net and ship? Ebay?

I know it's not worth a whole lot but I would like to get as much as I can obviously. I bought this when I was in school taking photo classes thinking it would be my profession. It didn't end up that way. It's been a while and I seem to have replaced most of my photo knowledge in my brain with other things. :)

thanks for any help you can offer. I tried to post pics but I don't have a spot for photo hosting to link.
hope this is the correct place to post this!

Look in Ebay's completed listings for samples of prices paid. What I do is offer individual items with free shipping in the U.S. and a starting price of $19.95. Sometimes bidding gets interesting during the last minute or two. The market place determines the true value of items. Good luck.

Agree with above - be aware that a pro camera like the RB67 may well have had very heavy use. The one you have is the first model introduced in 1970. RB67 prices are generally low because the line was discontinued a couple of years ago and Mamiya closed out their stocks at about 1/3 of list price, which means there are lots of relatively new cheap cameras around - a heavily-worn example is not very desirable! Quick off-the-cuff value - $150.

Cheryl, you don't need a photo hosting site to attach a photo to the post. Just downsize any photo to below 700 ppi at it's longest side and attach it from your computer. To get an idea of what it's worth, simply sign into your fleabay account, type in what you are selling, pull it up, then go to the "completed listings" and see what they've been selling for. The key to all of this is, are yours working properly? No haze/fungus, etc in the lenses? Backs work right w/ no light leaks? W/o this info it's impossible to suggest a price. You'll have to list it as Parts, or be prepared to pay the buyer's shipping both ways AND refund their total price if it doesn't work and they want their money back. Beater gear that works properly is obviously going to be worth more than an unknown setup, as your gear isn't collectible. It's doubtful that anyone is going to set it on a shelf just to look at it, unless they shore up the shelf anyway :) For what it's worth, I have given up on the classifieds here. Little to no responses, and most people seem to want to buy things for much less than what the asking prices are. Maybe others have had good luck w/ it, I haven't. It wasn't my prices, as the gear sold lickety split on the auction site.
