Trying again...
.
I shot a couple of very differnt concerts this week. One was folky bluegrass at the local guitar shop. This shot is the reflection of a photographer friend and mentor in a Dobrato steel guitar.
K-5 & Tamron 28-75/2.8
<a title="IMGP5013 by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" IMGP5013 src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8102/8621395306_f7c24c74c4_z.jpg" alt="IMGP5013" width="640" height="424" />
.
Next is electronic dance music at a local club I'm shooting some social media photos for.
K-5 & Tamron 28-75/2.8
<a title="IMGP5103 by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" IMGP5103 src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8123/8625142874_d9ae825215_z.jpg" alt="IMGP5103" width="424" height="640" />
.
Finally a fun/silly event at our local ski hill yesterday - racing kayaks on snow with a water finish. Good thing for WR bodies and lenses!
<a title="IMGP5384 by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" IMGP5384 src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8541/8625905381_f77484a83b_z.jpg" alt="IMGP5384" width="640" height="424" />
.
More kayaks on show here.

Yes, please, Markus--that apple cake looks delicious!
Great guitar Matt!
Clara and I made a college visit yesterday to the school where I spent most of my professional career. I'm not sure that that's where she'll end up--in some ways, it feels too much like home to her.
This is with the Sigma 100-300/4. Flash would have been a good idea.

IOt was a beautiful day (at last!) so we skipped the afternoon workshops (stuff we already know) and went to the lacrosse game--which UMBC won handily.

For the last week or so, I have been going through some shots that I haven't dealt with over the past year. This includes our Blues Festival from last July.

It's mating ritual time around our house. At least for the birds. The male Tom turkeys are prancing about doing their thing. They are usually around during early morning, low light hours, but my wife and I managed a couple of decent images. In fact, the first image is by my wife with nice early, sunlight.

00bWyh-530559584.jpg.fab3388a6ba9c7d78a8501b40581ad37.jpg

Douglas Stemke: 'Common Loon, Pentax K7 Pentax A 600mm f5.6 +1.4X-L TC ISO 800. Cropped, exposure corrected in photoshop'
A bird called the Great Northern Diver migrates to the eastern Atlantic coast in winter. I understand it's the European name for the Common Loon Gavia immer but those we see in Ireland migrate from Northern Europe. In winter, it's a much duller bird, but its substantial proportions are easily apparent even in the broad expanse of the sea.
Matt Burt: 'Next is electronic dance music at a local club I'm shooting some social media photos for.
K-5 & Tamron 28-75/2.8
This would be a powerful picture if enlarged. Even in the restricted size it is compelling.

Hi DC.
I actually almost wrote "Great Northern Diver" as well for our European/Asian members. When they head south here in the fall they are dull too. I miss Minnesota and Canadian lakes with their haunting calls echoing across peaceful lakes.
Nice images Robert. Your spring orchids can't be too far off! I saw my first snake of the season too, a rather rare Kirkland's Watersnake.

Markus - Ooh, that apple cake looks good! My favorite!
PJ - Nice timing on the guitarist! Good light too.
Bob - Great turkeys! Love the light in the first one. Mmmmm turkey...
Robert - nice composition on the ice and snow shot. Really like that! The snake is cool too!
ME - very nice moss shot.
Thanks Dave and DC for the nice comments!
