Matt Laur Posted February 12, 2013 Share Posted February 12, 2013

nobody really knows! :)

Some of us do!

Cinematography -> Cinema -> Cine.

Nobody pronounces the first syllable of that first word with a hard C (like a K) or with a long I ("eye"), and nobody pronounces the second syllable of the long word with an "eee," but rather with ah "eh." And the shortened form, used as an adjective ("cine lens") is just those same first two syllables, as-is, without the remaining ones. There!
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
qalam Posted February 12, 2013 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Apparently, I'm the only one with a dictionary. North America's most widely used dictionary has an on-line version with an audio file. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/cine The word begins like sin and ends like many. cwakeen Posted February 12, 2013 Author Share Posted February 12, 2013
Seems like we have two possibilities.
Sin-eh and sin-ee. I'm happy with those! Thanks everyone who participated. Chris
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
frank_scheitrowsky1 Posted February 12, 2013 Share Posted February 12, 2013 The third, and correct possibility, is pronounced "sin". Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
