Rolleiflex 3.5F White Face 4x5.5 - factory default

Hi all. My name is Rui, and i'm from Portugal. I've recently bought an Rolleiflex 3.5F. The Rollei is a white face model and the pictures format are 4x5.5.
Apparently the 4x5.5 convertion does not use any kit and it looks like a factory default which I think that it's not reversible.
I've done lots of searches on the web to find out if there is any register about rolleiflex 3.5F white face 4x5.5 factory default model.
Does anybody knows F&H produced these models?

Are you certain you don't have a White Faced T. Is your taking lens a Xenotar or Planar? Or is it something else like a Tessar or Xenar. I might be wrong but as far as I know the only camera that could be converted to 6x4.5 is the Rollei T. The White Face 3.5 F can be converted to 35mm.
In any case I personally have never encountered or heard of a TLR Rolleiflex coming out of the factory already set or converted to 6x4.5. I think your measurement of the 4x5.5 is probably the 4.5x6 or usually known as 645.

Hi. Thanks for tour answer. L

Regarding the format, i think I've mistyped and Is a 6x4.5. Rollie newbie issues ;)

I've already tested it and it allows 16 exposures.

I'm absolutely sure that is not a T model and it is an F model. The S/N is 2842097 which, if im not wrong, corresponds to

the F type 4.

I am sorry to be responding when I don't know anything about the 645 conversion. I have been researching it a bit now too and I see that the 3.5F is indeed capable of being converted to 645. It has to be reversible somehow. It seems there has to be a 16 frame counter installed for the 3.5F though not for the T. Hopefully someone will come in here and describe the process for you. Or you might call a camera repair place and ask.

The film chamber looks so compact and so professional that I makes me thinks that it is a factory default assemblage.

In fact I'm really curious to know if F&H indeed produced these camera format or

If it is was any photographer adaptation.

If it is an adaptation, I take my hat to the

One who did it. It's perfect and it's not reversible by a common user :)

I have some pics and if someone what's a can send by email...

By the way, Rollei did refer to its 16-exposure setup as 4x5.5, not 6x4.5, 4.5x6, or 645. That is the nomenclature on the mask sets for converting Rolleicords and Ts and in the literature.

The actual image area dimensions of my Rolleicord film mask insert is 40mm by 53 (52.5?)mm. This is for the part that goes into the film chamber itself. By the way, this stock insert has 4 notches, two on the top and bottom edges, marking the cropping for 4x4 super slides. And its 53mm dimension is ~2mm smaller per side than the stock camera film opening. This might tell you if someone did a nice job melding a mask into place, or if a different modification was done.

Hi Dan.
Thanks for the explaination about the Rollei formats :).
After some investigation with D Purdy and some other members help, i think that i've finally find out what happened...
In fact looks like F&H have never produced 4x5,5 F models. The camera that I have was modified by a previous owner that knew exactly what he was doing (or someone for him :) ).
He used part of the rolleicord convertion set (for the focusing screen) and he built two metal pieces that he placed on the film chamber.
He also changed the camera mechanism that pulls the film in order to get 16 exposures. He used some rolleiflex T parts to replace the mechanism...
I knew this yesterday because i took the camera to a guy that worked for the rolleiflex distribuitor in portugal a few years ago and he opened the camera and saw what happened.
In fact i'm currently praying in order to the change be reversible. I'd really like to have it back in 6x6 format but sometimes it's not easy to have spare parts or they are very expensive...
