Wouter Willemse
A big loss, mostly of course for Nadine's family and close friends, but certainly also to these forums. Even if one isn't or wasn't active in wedding photography, Nadine's posts were worth reading: among the most pleasant, level-headed and practical I've ever read. Like few others, she could always deliver constructive comments, in a gentle, pleasant tone and with a clear love for what she was doing. I will sure miss that.

pete_s.
My sincerest condolences to Nadine's family and friends.
I was thinking about her just the other day, wondering why I haven't seen her posts here in threads I knew she would always like participate in. Her knowledge and her willingness to share and help others here will be sorely missed.

mbkissel
I only knew Nadine from her forum posts here, but it was obvious she was always willing to help and offered a kind word of advice when needed. It was also obvious she was very well-respected. I am sorry to hear of her passing.

William, my sincere condolences to you for your friend. May she now rest in peace.
DickArnold
She set an example by her clear, lucid and patient explanations of her art. The site is diminished without her friendly and helpful presence. She is missed.
dave_wilson1
Very sad news. My deepest condolences. We can never take for granted some of these longer standing on-line associations, sometimes all of a sudden they just stop and we're left only with the conversations we had along the way. Christopher Sperry Photogr
Although I have never photographed a wedding, I have read this forum off and on over the years. I always took special note when Nadine offered her wisdom and experience with measured patience. This is very sad news. My condolences to Nadine’s family.

carashilaire
It is such sad news indeed. We were thinking of making a donation in her name from everyone at the pnet community. The ideas so far are this great organization in her area: http://www.sfcamerawork.org/getinvolved/donate/index.php. "Your gift will help SF Camerawork make a lasting impact on the entire community, from life-changing experiences for low-income youth in First Exposures, to the creation of new work by emerging artists, to the innovative exhibitions that you will not see elsewhere."

Or we could also donate to the American Cancer Society: http://www.cancer.org/.

Do any of you have any other thoughts/ideas? Something that she felt passionately about that we could contribute to in her honor?
Dave Gardner
Wow....i am stunned by this news. I considered Nadine a friend...an never met her in-person. That was the kind of soul she was...and the effect she had on people just meeting her on line. I feel such a loss not having met Nadine in person.......

richard_beisigl
When I read of the passing of Nadine Ohara, it was as though a ton of bricks had fallen on me. It has taken me two or three days to be able to sit and write my goodbye to Nadine.
Like many of you, I read all of her posts answering other fellow Pnet members questions with clarity and simplicity.
I did not know Nadine as some of you did, but from her advice to others, it was clear that she loved what she was doing, and cared enough to try and make better wedding photographers out of all who sought her wisdom.
My condolences to her family and friends.
Rest in Peace Nadine, and thank you for making Pnet a truely place of learning.

drjoder
I never knew Nadine apart from here on PN...and I don't do wedding photography. BUT, I always read what she had to say because I soon learned that she was a voice of much, much experience. She always gave freely from her years of experience to up-and-coming wedding shooters (and others). I'm very sorry to hear the news.
markonestudios
This is extremely sad news. Nadine was always such a helpful person and such a treasure. Her personality always shone through, and her voice of reason was always a calming force on these forums.

I developed a good professional relationship with her over the years, seeking her advice and counsel. I had hoped that this year, finally, we would get to meet face to face but alas! So fleeting life can be.

I welcome the idea of an annual prize in her honour...

My thoughts, prayers and sincere condolences go out to her family during this trying time.

Gup
I'm saddened at this news. When I think of Nadine I will always be reminded of her generosity.
One morning, some years ago I turned on my computer to find an email from Nadine. It was the first email I had ever received from an online acquaintance and I will never forget it. She was responding personally to something I had mentioned in the wedding forum and we exchanged similar experiences we'd had. I was struck then with her giving nature and have since 'paid it forward' many times from the example she set. I will miss her.
