What is wrong with Photo.net

I have just experienced a triple post: it took a while for something to happen after i clicked the confirm-button. Knowing about the server time out and double posts, i did nothing. Just waited. But no server time out this time. But when i returned to the thread, the post was there in triplicate.

A small discomfort. Hosting is very expensive. So maybe something we can live with?

Every time I post an answer in a thread, I see ping things, google things and a lot of other URL's showing before the answer is posted. It is holding up the posting. And again when I try to get to the thread to check if my answer is okey, it runs through all these URL's again. Occasionally the ping thing holds things up for seconds, so does the google thing, and the google thing has crashed my computer to the point I had to remove the power cord and the battery and restart the computer to get things going again (a couple of times).

Even if it looks like the answer has not been posted, it is worth going to the thread to check if it is there before you repost it. Usually it is.

I was getting multiple alerts and multiple daily summaries. Sample- http://www.photo.net/site-help-forum/00bE3u
Spoke with Josh and he said they were having a couple of issues. All is running smooth now except the site runs kind of slow. Was waiting to hear back from Josh again, but it has been a few days and no reply yet. Maybe he knows that my problem was fixed, but there was another question I had asked him. One thing I had asked was, if it was possible to stop receiving the Daily Forum Summaries, since I don't usually read those and I did not know what to click on my own to stop from getting them. Somebody must of turned off something, because they stopped coming :-)

What QG describes happens a lot to me now and more occasionally in the past. I think its order of magnitude worse now. Seems to me to correlate with a non-responsive "confirm" button that means after maybe 20 seconds I press it again and we all know where that leads.

I'm very occasioanlly getting "too busy". Virtually never 504/502

I requested an account name change using the link one is supposed to use for that purpose; the requested name change was never accomplished.

When I returned to the link to send a second request, thinking the first must have been overlooked, instead of the form to

complete that I had seen a few weeks earlier I was presented some text informing me that I had already changed my

account name, and was therefore precluded from doing it again.

Perhaps my first request is "seasoning" in an mod/admin's queue. Not a big deal, but not confidence-inspiring, either.

Hi Anne........ your issue is the same as mine............ the page-loads take for ever whilst it works through all the flickr, facebook, tweet et al and of course then we have to wait for the adverts and member images to load.
My system can also time-out because of this......... but it often jambs me up, so I go and get some coffee whilst it catches up with itself......... getting worse over the past 3 months or so.
Hi Chris..... if you are referring to multiple image uploads, I do not have any issues there, although I am requested to upload some little program from time to time.
Regards

Timo........... your issue is part and parcel of Ann's and my system symptoms. The long delay is due to the system loading up tons of stuff to our screens..... you should not "have to live with it".
Oh! and a refreshed page still starts halfway down.......... all these months later I'm still scrolling up to get to the start>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
