johnr78735
I have a new D800 Nikon that has spots on the sensor. What should a sensor cleaning cost in the US...Texas is where I live but any info would help. John in Austin
JosvanEekelen
Check the archives and do it yourself. Canon does the first sensor cleaning for free, check if Nikon has a similar service. BTW, I may sound critical but I am not impressed with cleaning services, I prefer to do it myself.

Jerry_
If you have not been out in the grit shooting with your D800, you might contact Nikon USA by e-mail. They just might offer to do a cleaning under the warranty service. It costs zero to e-mail Nikon and see what they answer.

www.nikonusa.com

elliot1
It is a good idea to learn how to clean the sensor yourself (it is actually very easy to do). Keep in mind that the sensor can (and will get dirty) at some point after it is cleaned and will need to be cleaned again (and again) over time.

You may find these links of interest:

http://www.photo.net/equipment/dslr-sensor-cleaning/

stephen_worth
I got spots on my sensor and simply blowing them with a bulb blower dislodged them. It isn't always necessary to do a full cleaning.

keith_b1
Nikon service in El Segundo--now relocated to Mid City, Los Angeles-- charged $29 a couple years ago. $60 or $70 seems rather high.
2Oceans
John, $100.00 here in the Washington, DC / Northern, Virginia area. Shops will often warrantee their work. Good hunting. Andy

dwight200
@Craig Shearman:
Using bulb is not a good idea.
First of all, if your finger slips, the shutter closes and possibly hits the tip of the blower. That's a few hundred to repair the shutter.
Second, if you use the "Mirror Up For Cleaning" setting, the voltages are off on the sensor. Using bulb, the voltages are on, so static could hold the dust in place.
