For years I've traveled with MP and 35mm Summilux f/1.4 ASPH, a few rolls of slide and b&w film and a dSLR. The dSLR and its hefty lenses proved to be a pain in the neck. It just so happened that I dropped my Nikon (and now it needs to be repaired) when Fuji Film announced price drop on X Pro 1 and lens combo and my trip was coming up fast; not enough time for repair. So, here are they now, my trusty MP with X-Pro 1. Again, there will be a few rolls of film for Leica, and an additional lens for Fuji.

00b6kl-507433584.jpg.91258316acc076b0850e7fcc59d5bdca.jpg

That should make a good combination Emir. When I was in India earlier this year an X-100 was digital backup to my venerable M4. The Fuji was able to get shots in light too dim for ISO 400 film and did a good job of it.
A compact travel camera with decent viewfinder is what brought me to Leica over four decades ago. Although I own DSLRs they aren't my favorite for travel, too big and bulky. Am also not a fan of electronic viewfinders as they suffer from the same problems as SLRs, you can't see outside the image area, and the finder blacks out during exposure.
Here's the kit I carried this year, M4, + 21, 50 and 90mm and X-100.
There's a few travel shots with the Fuji in my PN gallery.

Hi Glenn, I agree with you when it comes to size and

portability Leica and similarly sized cameras are really

great. The X Pro 1 is an interesting little camera that I'm still

learning to live with. I am not the fan of its auto focus and I

wish it had a proper manual focus. In any event I'm looki g

forward to use it together with my MP. The MP nevere

failed and I hope that X Pro 1 will live to the expectation.

My pre-digital travel kit was an M6 with a 50 and an M2 with a 35 plus a 25 and a 90. Hardly used the 50 last time. Now I

would take the X100 and the M9, but probably also the M6 and some slide film. Next time would be 21, 35 Summicron, the C Sonnar

and the 90 Elmarit M. Probably one lens too many but I have to find you which one. Probably one camera too many.

Just reading the title, I thought this was about something else...
Here's my travel companion.
(Leica content: M8 + 28mm Elmarit Asph).

Emir, BTW, I really like your Zanzibar set on flickr.

00b6w5-507549784.jpg.314a7dc35979372eccd9e7db301edf80.jpg

Thanks Christopher, but she's the most gentle, docile, submissive dog I've ever met. She rolls over on her back to greet me when I come home from work.

She's a great therapy dog. In this shot she's waiting to visit a friend of ours who just had surgery.
