Nikon Wednesday 2012: #40

<p>Greetings from the depths of northern Ontario.<br>

Fog was rising from Elk Lake Sunday morning due to the 3C air temperature.</p><div></div>

<p>Nice fall images from the group! Something must be in the air, as I had just now dug out some unfinished White Mtns, NH shots to chip in this week. This is "Fall Foliage and Mountain Spruce, White Mountains National Forest, NH".</p><div></div>

<p>Wonderful photos, I especially like the marine theme this week. Mine is a spontaneous portrait of a friend, it was almost dark outside, but I just managed to get the last available light. Nikon D700, 24-70mm f/2.8@ISO 6400, f/3.5, 1/60s</p><div></div>

<p>I met Phil in downtown Sarasota. H had not eaten for a while.<br>

<p>Very nice shots today. Nice to see the fall color shots. Didn't do too much shooting this week. First shot is just some barns at the county park. I liked the different angles of the roofs.</p><div></div>

<p>I put my old Tokina 80-200 manual focus lens on the D90 and tried it out shooting up into the old crab apple tree and brilliant blue sky.</p><div></div>

<p>Went to an old Florida theme park that has been turned into a state park now, Weeki Wachee Springs, the mermaids were out and I now know why sailors would jump overboard to join them.</p><div></div>

<p>Fireworks again. I shot with the old PC-Nikkor 28/3.5, but here's the shot I wish I got -- a heavy crop, as though I'd shot with maybe a 105. I need to remember to use longer lenses for fireworks sometimes!</p><div></div>

<p>I’ve spent about 40 years walking through the New Orleans French Quarter. Then, at a particular time of day, in a particular season, the sun illuminates something that had gone unnoticed for nearly 4 decades. It forces you to see something striking about a subject that is normally mundane</p><div></div>

I've swapped the aperture-rings between a scratched, but already Ai'd Nikkor-H Auto 85/1.8 and a very clean, but non-Ai copy of this lens. Here's one of the first shots taken with the 40 years old, but clean Nikkor-H:</p>
