TC 2x

I'm thinking of purchasing a Nikon nikon TC-20E III.<br>

Has anyone had expirience with a D800, 70-200 VRII and TC-20E III. If possible some examples please.<br>

<p>That combination should give you what I would describe as decent, acceptable results, at an effective 400mm/f5.6. It would be best if you could further stop down one stop and use it at 400mm, f8.</p>

This with a D600 and 200-400 lens and TC-20.<br>

A TC-1.7 should provide considerably better results if you can move closer to the subject.</p>

 

<p>I have been very happy with my TC20e III. I use it on a 300f4 and D300. Here is one from last week.

<p>I think the 70-200II + TC-20E III is ok at shortish distances but at longer distances (20m+) I don't much care for its image quality. I would like to see Nikon add VR to the 300/4 or introduce a slower 400mm prime with AF-S and VR. </p>

<p>I do use the TC-14E II on the 70-200II without too much hesitation and stopped down to f/5.6 it is quite good. </p>

<p>From your opinions and examples, it seems a safe bet.<br>

<p>I had had good to excellent results with the TC-20EIII with several lenses I have tried it on but like Ilkka, I don't care much for its IQ with the 70- 200mm - I find my 80-400mm sharper at 400mm than than the 70-200mm + 2X TC at 400mm. </p>
