ricardovaste
Looking for some hands on experience here. Can one use the 80/1.9 @ 1.9 with the AF-confirm system on the AFD2 reliably? Is it very accurate?

I'd hate to pay £40 for film, process & scan only to get it all back OOF...

Many thanks,
Richard
gregory_king1
Based on my recent results, I'd say you're safe. Most of my AFD shots were accurate, and my 80 1.9 shots were accurate. Of course, it all depends on the accuracy of your AF module.

I used a monopod - a tripod would probably have been overkill; the shutter speed was 1/125 sec. I made sure I shot only when the focus-confirm LED was "O".

Full frame (36.7 x 36.7 mm sensor)

100 per cent crop of the flower in the central focus point:

Maybe the subject is a litte too structured three-dimensionally for this to be an ideal test of focus accuracy - a more expansive surface like a face might have been better - but I think it is a good real-world test of the 80/1.9 and the focus confirm system.
