POTW 5/27/2012

<p>No late birds I see. Guess it's time to get this started.</p>

<p>More Costa Rica images.<br /> This first one I was pretty happy with. All images with my beloved K7. I took it with a Pentax FA 300mm f4.5 +1.7X Autofocus TC. This Three toed sloth was way up in a Cecropia actually not sleeping. The shot is slightly sharpened and cropped. <p>This next image is a very deadly Fer-de-lance. One of the students actually found it on the trail, they are virtually invisible with their camouflage. The leaf up front is a distraction, but I was not up to moving it. Shot with a the 100 macro f2.8 DA WR. <p>Lots of bird, frog and other images. I'll leave with this shot of an American Crocodile from our 'Jungle Boat tour' Tarcoles. Straight 300mm FA. They came a lot bigger than this guy, but I liked his grin.</p>

<p>Two more from Yellowstone. The first is one of the many active pools, the second a shot of the Firehole River. We were there the first week of May and it snowed the first two days of the visit.</p><div></div>

<p>A co worker is the editor for their Rotary Club journal and asked me for some Hydrangea pics for the cover. So yesterday morning was a nice morning to get some nice floral pics at the UNCC Botanical Gardens</p>

<p>Since we had a few monsoon moments here this past week I went to see the aftermath in a flower garden. A gentleman asked me there what camera I was using and I told him. He said "They used to make good cameras. Are they still in business?" I informed him that they were and are and filled him in on the Hoya episode and now Ricoh. So much for Pentax advertising, but that's another thread.</p>

<p>Doug - Glad you decided discretion was the better part of valor re: moving the leaf and glad you were using a long lens for the croc. He might have been smiling because he saw lunch!<br /> John - As much as I like the green field, the clover picture on Flickr is a stunner.</p>

<p>Thanks Howard, I thought I would post one taken with the DA55mm as it doesn't seem to be used by many of us that post here. Just wanted to show its not just for portrait use!</p>

<p>I just got the K-5, an upgrade from the K20D. I used the Pentax 35mm macro Ltd prime lens to get this shot.</p><div></div>
