X10 filter solutions?

<p>Hey guys need a filter for my x10. Has anyone used the vented lens hood solution? How does it work? Do you just have to take it off whenever you want to put the lens cap on?<br /><br /><br /><br>

How about a filter mounted directly to the lens? The guy at Fuji said it was a 40mm thread but some online sources say 39.5? Which is it and where would you find one of these?</p>

<p>One of my first peeves about the X10 was the lens hood/filter holder. I thought it was a poorly conceived idea that was also too expensive. But it was the only way a filter could be mounted at the time. Unless someone is now marketing those 39.5 or 40mm filters, it may still be the only game in town.</p>

<p>I was unable to use the hood/filter holder. Once mounted, I was unable to get my large sized fingers between the back of the mounting plate and the front of the camera to turn the on/off control. I had other issues with the camera as well but, needless to say, it was not a good fit for me. </p>

<p>I use a $15 hood I got on fleabay, works fine but is a slight PITA. The lens cap is stored as it is not needed with the hood.</p>
