arthur_gottschalk
Does anyone use an Imagon lens on their hasselblad? What's the best focal length and mounting to use with the Hasselblad?
tim_ludwig2
Similar situation, but not an Imagon. I use a Wollensak Veritar on mine so the methods and hardware (other than the lens mount ring) are one and the same.

Mine is 254mm and I love the length. On the square format, the 150mm range is considered an average portrait length to be sure that tight head shots don't distort the nose and ears, so anything longer is fine if you have the space available for camera to subject plus all the distance to background, space for lights, etc.

My solution for mounting hardware led me to a good used Hasselbald bellows for focusing. The only other option is the variable extension tube, but the bellows was much less costly on the used market. A very good friend who happens to be a superb machinist devised the mount from a 55 extension tube to go between the bellows and the threaded Alphax shutter on the Veritar.

Since both the Imagon and the Veritar usually have shutters, you can use them on any of the bodies, but I opted for a good used 2000FCM so I could bypass the lens shutter (and corresponding slow, view camera type of operation) and simply use the lens at the desired f stop with normal focus and shoot operation by using the built-in focal plane shutter. This way the lens stays open at all times and all functions default to a normal aim, focus and shoot sequence which is much simpler and faster for the subject.

richard_lehun
If you don't have the owner's manual on the imagon, PM me. If you can read German, I have the 200 page book on it as a pdf.
Best
Richard
