New Plustek scanners

<p>I see on the Plustek Germany site that they have released OptiFilm 8100 (no infrared), and 8200i SE/8200i AI. Just looking at the specs, I can't tell what's changed all that much except increased Dynamic Range (from 3.5 to 3.6), and inclusion of Silverfast SE Plus 8. These new products may explain why B&H is selling the 7600i SE for $300... :)</p>

Can't hide much in a <strong>global village</strong>, but the <em>US man</em> from Plustek was rather<em> coy</em> about it. Probably wanted to protect pricing for the current models. Not surprising that they're coming down already. </p>

<p>Thanks Wolf, I just got done reading the thread. Looks like the main focus of the thread was the as-yet-unannounced multi-format scanner, but I did glean this bit from the Plustek US rep's comments:</p>

<p>Actually, and it strikes me as rather weird, info about the new model Plustek scanners seem kind of non consistent.<br /> <strong>CEBIT 2012</strong> just openend its doors in Germany and so far, from my browsing internationally, I get recent infos about<br /> the 8200 scanners only from Plustek's German website... <em>"Die OpticFilm-Scanner von Plustek verfügen über die neuste</em> <em>LED-Beleuchtungstechnik und über eine verbesserte Optik."</em> In plain English: <em>"The OpticFilm-Scanners from Plustek offer</em><br /> <em>the newest LED lamp technique as well as improved optics." <strong>Improved optics..?</strong></em> As compared to..? Their own previous<br /> generation models, or..? Not very forthcoming. And not very clear. To be continued, I guess.</p>
