hyunyu
I see on the Plustek Germany site that they have released OptiFilm 8100 (no infrared), and 8200i SE/8200i AI. Just looking at the specs, I can't tell what's changed all that much except increased Dynamic Range (from 3.5 to 3.6), and inclusion of Silverfast SE Plus 8. These new products may explain why B&H is selling the 7600i SE for $300... :)

http://plustek.com/de/products/opticfilm-series/

(if you use Google Chrome browser, the browser can automatically translate the website into English)
wolf_weber
Though U may not want to go through all the postings in the Forum-link, the new scanners U mention have been partially discussed here already... http://www.photo.net/digital-darkroom-forum/00KNOU
Can't hide much in a global village, but the US man from Plustek was rather coy about it. Probably wanted to protect pricing for the current models. Not surprising that they're coming down already.

hyunyu
Thanks Wolf, I just got done reading the thread. Looks like the main focus of the thread was the as-yet-unannounced multi-format scanner, but I did glean this bit from the Plustek US rep's comments:

"So here is the scoop on the OpticFilm 8XXX scanners. The hardware as the 7XXX series. The only difference is they come with SilverFast 8."

That's good to know, as I just bought a 7600i SE intending to use it with VueScan! :)

For anyone interested, there's an excellent discussion thread at the Leica camera users' forum regarding the 7600i. You really should register in order to see all the inline photos and samples.

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/film-forum/153571-plustek-7600i-se-very-good-money.html
wolf_weber
Actually, and it strikes me as rather weird, info about the new model Plustek scanners seem kind of non consistent.
CEBIT 2012 just openend its doors in Germany and so far, from my browsing internationally, I get recent infos about
the 8200 scanners only from Plustek's German website... "Die OpticFilm-Scanner von Plustek verfügen über die neuste LED-Beleuchtungstechnik und über eine verbesserte Optik." In plain English: "The OpticFilm-Scanners from Plustek offer
the newest LED lamp technique as well as improved optics." Improved optics..? As compared to..? Their own previous
generation models, or..? Not very forthcoming. And not very clear. To be continued, I guess.
