dejansmaic
Twilight by Moonlight at Maroon Bells
Here is an image of Maroon Bells taken on October 1, 2011. Me and about 100 other photographers set up for an orange sunset which never came. All but a handful left the shores of Maroon Lake. The occasional drizzle, coupled with being set up next to another photog with a 4x5 and prospects of "some" shot kept me around. This image is a 5 shot set using a D700, Nikon 16-35 f/4 set at varying exposures at f/8, ISO100, 24mm. I used blending techniques as to incorporate the moon, which made a late appearance before closing up shop for the evening. As always thanks for looking!

todd_angood
Thanks Kent. I took that in February of 2008 right after I purchased a D80. Ive since graduated to a D300. That particular day it was 12 degrees with a 30-40 mile an hour wind.
mickey_anderson
What a great way to start off a new nikon year! Mr. Smaic and Frank Allen are my favorites, so far! We had a tree trimmer bringing some pecan trees down in the neighborhood. This guy was about sixty feet up.

thadley
Happy New Year to everyone. It is bitterly cold here in Quebec so my frosted window pane is an interior shot taken yesterday. Lots of excellent images thus far; Shun - lovely bird shot, Dejan - I am never tired of seeing the Maroon Bells: Frank - never seen candles shaped like that: Miha - I like the inclusion of the shadow - to just mention a few.

orourke
Hello all. I'm starting New Year off with something old. Really old
I shot this image while attending college. At the time I was enrolled in photography courses, developing everything I shot. This was taken in October of 1980. The economy was in a tailspin and the hostages in Iran were still being held. To offset the oil crisis we were told to don a sweater and drive 55. President Carter's poll numbers were abysmal. It was all beyond his control, and he knew it. This was supposed to be an upbeat campaign stop but the reality of the times forced their way past Carter's famous smile and the President's face betrayed the carnival that surrounded him.
Lately I've been going through old negatives and scanning them, trying to learn the ins and outs of the digital darkroom while I decide which Dslr to call my first. This is a crop from a much larger image I shot using my old Nikkormat Ft2 and a borrowed 135 since all I had at the time was my 50 f2 that came with my camera. I cropped the image in faststone to try and better capture the mood of the President that day.

johnfarrar
Happy new year - looks like the standard for 2012 is being set high today!
Went looking for a viewpint used by a very good local painter; found it, but wind much too strong for a tripod. So did a grab shot for working out focal length etc for when I return - but then converted it to b+w, played a bit, and quite like it.
