pc_b
(+1) and +1!
Paul, your post reminds me of one of the main reasons (for me) why reading the L/RF forum in 2011 was such a drag. (Sigh.)
Wish somebody would get (photographic) hold of Al's negs and start printing them and putting them up for sale and in the internet. Santa hasn't heard me this time around, obviously.
Question on the side: who of you two used british film products?!? ;-)

mukul_dube
Good to see that Al is remembered in this way. It's two years now but I keep imagining e-mail from him when I start up the computer in the early hours.
Karim Ghantous
He passed away too soon. However, let's recall a point which Steve Jobs made in his Stanford speech: death is a kind of cleansing agent which allows the old to rest and the new to take up where they left off. . So here's the thing: who will take up that mantle? . I hope that I am not straining relations with the powers that be when I say that we have lost some of the most interesting people in this forum over the past few years. Some died, some were banned, some just left, while some had more pressing priorities. I salute them all. :-) . A personal note: funny how technology choices are always in flux. I once thought that I'd never use film again, but I never did sell my M bodies. I don't use film much at the moment, but the Leicas are there, waiting.
