jamesmck
I came upon a like-new Vivitar (Kiron) 85-205 f3.8 for next to nothing. Though I don't expect too much from this lens, I'd like to use it a bit. It is far from petite - about 8 inches long, and 1-pound 14-ounces. There is no tripod collar. Will this be too much weight for an OM-2n mounted on a tripod? Thanks for any thoughts.
SCL
If you could add a third party tripod collar to the lens it would be a lot safer, but I'm sure you could use it as it, but not too roughly.
mukul_dube
Echoing Stephen: tripod collar much safer. Tripod collar is unrelated to tripod sturdiness, though of course a heavy lens needs a good tripod.
jamesmck
Thanks, everyone. I'll look for a collar that will fit or can be adapted.
jcuknz
A balanced rig aids steadiness so either collar, a lens cap, or your hand supporting the lens ....
