Someone told me a huge flock of migrating geese had landed at a local baseball complex so I went to see for myself. Fortunately, they were still there -- hundreds of them. The light (overcast) wasn't great by any stretch, but the sheer number of birds was compelling so I hauled out the camera. When they took off together, wings flapping and throats squawking, it was quite the cacophony of sound.

00ZlT3-426381784.jpg.487413622de2903cd1508f0980f8264b.jpg

Hi, guys, I have not participated in this thread series for a while, but I'd like to make my return with this image from a freestyle/discojazz competition lately.

Entering a new phase in my dance photos - instead of trying to achieve the utmost sharpness, I'd like to explore the movement and long shutter times

Per-Christian - nice, very nice.
Something differnt from me; two friends are a guitar duo, Deuawd (duo in Welsh) Elidir, and they have made a CD for friends and families. The CD is called Castell y Gwynt, Castle of the Winds, after a rock formation in our mountains - so they wanted a photo of Castell y Gwynt for the monochrome CD cover, and asked me if I had one. So back to the archives...

00ZlTt-426405584.jpg.c9e49c082c7e4bc21dda8c1e97340fd4.jpg

Good morning to all. I really like the photos this morning. Louis that is a wonderful photo of that tree taken with your trusty F3. My shot this morning is our new Lab Lexie thinking that she is a German Short Haired Pointer on a bird. If the truth be known she was probably pointing a nest of field mice.

00ZlUh-426431584.jpg.2076cb97a6a86581bde6c44f8ca1200d.jpg

Happy Holidays!
Thanks for the kind comments last week (Jeannean, Nicolaie - thanks for the tip, Chris). Jeannean and Kent - made me laugh! Robert W. - that is pretty cool

Looking through my shots from the past week, most "Christmassy" shot are sub-par (where is snow when you need it). So I am going to cheat a little bit - today is Winter solstice, but the sun isn't up yet, so here is yesterdays sunrise. I am such a pagan :)

00ZlVK-426447584.jpg.8675188c4e39a366253015d4ec2c2048.jpg

Good morning all, 'tis the season for train gardens and my model railroad club is showing their toy trains at museums in Maryland, finishing with a show at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore next week. This photo is of a Milwaukee Road Hiawatha running past a drive-in theatre. D300, 24mm TS lens.

00ZlVP-426449584.jpg.11015d314b5ae80c3fb11cfe6b1c7111.jpg
