In-Home Portrait Sales Software?

Recommended Posts

I'm starting to strategize some in-home print sales. I've been looking across a lot of the methods people have been using--such as bringing completed prints and projection sales and such. Having never done in-home sales, I'm thinking that I want something with a lower entry cost, or something that relies more on my interaction than on razzle-dazzle. Not to say that the latter isn't useful, I just want to test the waters some before making major investment.
So, what I'm wondering is if there are any really great software tools out there for in home-sales. Google searches turned up a lot of stuff that was central to studio sales, which isn't too useful to me. What I'm really looking for is something that will allow me to snap a photo of the family room in a home and dynamically place scale prints on the walls on the fly. I saw someone made something to this effect in a Lightroom plugin, but it only used built in images of family rooms and such. I can't imagine that being super effective.
Is anyone using software with great success?

Not a low price, between 400-650 bucks, but with a free full working 30 day trial... Proselect.

Studioplus you can get for free and also has some client sales build into it, but not like proselect.

Those are the two I am playing with, well actualy I have studioplus, but I am testimng my water with proselect, and I think I will invest in this software myself.

I would second the recommendation of ProSelect as really the only choice designed for that purpose and does what you want (plus much more). It's a wonderful application--if you're already ongoing with home sales, ProSelect will boost your sales enough to pay for itself during the 30 day trial.

But if you're just starting out, it's a big bucket of ducats to spend. You might start out with a product designed for quick and easy image rating and selection. I'd recommend FastPictureViewer Professional as an inexpensive starter program that works much better as a presentation application for clients than the various browser-viewers. But try ProSelect for a month to see what a well-designed program for the purpose would do for you.

I don't think it's accurate to characterize projection and completed prints as "razzle-dazzle." Projection and completed prints simply show the client what you are selling as accurately and honestly as possible. The fact is, most non-artistic people actually can't visualize final products very well, which is why if you show small images, they buy small images, but if you show big images she will realize that's what she really wants.
