don_cooper
significant speed improvement with win 7 64bit in many processing functions. Anyone running that OS should be quite pleased, looks like Nikon has finally hit it!
tri-x1
Just loaded it on Win 7 64 bit. Seems to run considerably faster (and load faster). Available on the U.S. download site now.
lornesunley
This version of NX2 appears to be NOT compatible with the Nik software EFex Pro 3.0 for NX2. I installed the new version of NX2 and my EFex Pro 3.0 disappeared from the Filter menu in NX2. I re-installed EFex Pro 3 and it still did not appear in the filter menu.

I put a query into Nik software support about it.

Does anyone else use EFex Pro 3 for NX2?

The new version of NX2 appears to be much faster than the older versions... on a Mac ...
Rene11664880918
It works great.... Over a week ago I did a clean install of OS 10 (Lion) on a new SSD. Since then NX2 stopped working and I had to run it from a USB disk with Snow Leopard..... This version of NX2 installed perfectly and now it is really fast.
Thank you C.P.M. for the heads up..... and THANK YOU NIKON!!!!!
digidave2
There is a discussion at the CNX2 Flickr group discussing the problems with compatibility between CNX2 & CEP3.
http://www.flickr.com/groups/capturenx/discuss/72157628495818029/
There is an update that CEP3 did that will make it compatible with CNX2 32-bit vers.. The old version was 3.002 & the newer version is 3.003. It seems to be working for the people that have tried it. You can't use the 64-bit vers. of CNX2 but it seems to be an improvement over the old 2.2.8.

http://www.niksoftware.com/cepnx/usa/entry.php

Rob Davies
I have been running the 64 bit upgrade all day, no crashes so far.
Very slick, much nicer to use... only the nr slows it down a little (though not half as much as it used to).
lornesunley
Resolved the Efex Pro 3.0 issue. It turns out that you have to uninstall both NX2 and Efex Pro completely, then install NX2 2.3, then Efex Pro 3.003, then use "Get Info" in the Mac "Finder" to select "open in 32 bit mode".

Works fine after that.
joseph_smith3
I have just downloaded version 2.3.0 of NX2 and version 2.2.5 of View NX2. I needed View NX2 version 2.2.5 to access NX2 version 2.3.0 as the older version of View NX2 would not allow access to NX2 version 2.3.0 from it.
During the installation process of NX2 version 2.3.0 I was asked if I wanted the 32 bit version or the 64 bit version. (I had Color Efex Pro 3.0 installed for NX2.) I chose the 64 bit version. Upon opening ver 2.3.0 NX2 I no longer have access to Color Efex Pro 3.0 in NX2.
Both View NX2 and NX2 seem to work fine. Also I will have to add my registration license number to activate NX2 as right now I am using it under the 30 day trial period.
I still am not sure what NX2 version 2.3.0 is. Here is what I found at www.Nikonusa for Windows pc:
“Additional modifications to the Windows version:

This software now operates as a native 64-bit application under the 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

At the end it then says this: * - 32- and 64-bit versions are supported. However, under 64-bit versions, the software operates as a 32-bit application. “
I have no idea what this means is simple English. Is the 64 bit version of NX2 version 2.3.0 still 32 bit or is it 64 bit?
Joe Smith

Go here to download both products:
http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61#Anchor-1
lornesunley
The application has both 32 and 64 bit executables. The question about 32 or 64 bit is to give you the option of the 32 bit application for use with Efex Pro if you are running a 64 bit OS. You can only access the Efex Pro plugin if you are running the 32 bit version of NX2.
martynas_photo
on i5, 8gb ram, win7 pro x64 the proverbially slow nx2 works like a charm - stable, fast and way better than non-native raw converters. My only wish is that Nikon finally made the two programs 100% compatible - I am referring to the "convert file" command in ViewNX. When you have a nef that was not edited in CaptureNX2 (or when it was quick adjusted in ViewNX), you can use this command to quickly convert selected Nef's to jpeg/tiff, choosing size options, removing exif data, etc. However, as soon as you touch the nef in CaptureNX2, the 'convert file' command no longer works on ViewNX. Which is strange, because ViewNX's "Email" option works (essentially doing the same conversion, but with far less choices). Otherwise - just great.
janos_kovacs
Efex Pro 3.0 operates only with the CNX 32 bit version.
The software operates 64 bit if so installed. You can see this by means of the RAM allocation and of course of the improved speed. Overall, to me at least, this 64 bit is a major improvement.
lornesunley
I don't know if anyone is still following this thread, but Nik software released a 64 bit version of Color Efex Pro 3.0 for NX2 on January 12th 2012. It works fine with NX2 in 64 bit mode.
