Remember: only one image each week!

Happy Thursday everyone! Apparently the northern lights have been visible here in Indiana the past two nights and as far south as Tennessee and Alabama. I unfortunately did not know about this until today and it's raining now so I won't be seeing it tonight, if it's still showing anyways. If anyone got photos I'd love to see them. I got out yesterday to try to find some wildlife near a local stream. I saw several wood ducks and this female kingfisher. This is a hefty crop, but a testament to the 1D IV and to the 1.4x tele-converter for maintaining sharpness, even when cropped.

mbkissel
Nice one, Nathan! I shot a kingfisher this past weekend, but it was so small in the frame, I abandoned the image.

Couple of standouts to me...
Lupo - for the sake of my waistline, I try not to look at your photos very long.
Jeff Spirer - I feel like I'm in the cage, just a few feet from the fighters. Very nicely done against that strong overhead light.
Linda Jones - Excellent capture of the Golden Eagle. Composition is perfect.
A very nice start for this week.

Was traveling to a favorite spot this past weekend and rounded a corner to see this nice bit of sunlight streaming through the trees. Felt compelled to pull over and capture the scene.

bill_k5
This is a photo of my friend "Coach" (In yellow and black). While in Gainesville for a weekend of bicycle riding, I had the opportunity to watch him race in the Gainesville Senior Games (it was 39 degrees at the start of the first race). Coach is 72 years old. He won gold medals in both time trial events he entered. Also, this is my first attempt at motion photography.
