5d MKII Battery Grip: Scam alert?

I was looking on eBay to see if there were any second hand battery grips for the 5d mkii (you never know, right?) and came across this.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170696091136&ssPageName=ADME:X:eRTM:AU:1123#ht_6303wt_1004

Brand new, apparently a genuine OEM Canon Battery grip. I'm not convinced. Mainly because it's less then a third of the price.

I sent the following message to the seller.

Is the item in question a genuine Canon product or a 3rd party brand?

To which they replied:

Hello dear,

Thanks for your email and interest.

Our supplier said it is real and it has one year's warranty.

We have sold many and till now has no problems.

If you want, I can do some discount to you as you are so kind and sincere. I can sell at $60 each including registered shipping to you.

If you agree, please tell me.

Have a nice day!

Kind regards

I'm almost tempted to buy it anyway, because at that price, it's not too bad for a 3rd party grip, and I can always dispute it if it turns out to not be up to scratch, as they claimed it was OEM.

Anyone else have anything to say about this even if it is to laugh at me even thinking of considering thinking about it?

Notice the vendor didn't say it was real...just said that's what they were told, leaving themselves an out when you discover it's an import? If it seems too good to be true, it is. And knocking some off before you even ask is another warning sign. As is the "hello dear"...seen that on too many 419 emails and it rings wrong. I'd pass and check KEH. At least you know what you're getting.

"Chances are you won't receive anything."

I think the chances of that are fairly slim. But I also think the chances that you will receive a counterfeit product are 99.99% (and a search of this seller's negative and neutral feedback shows a history of selling fake products).
