john_hinkey
I for one would very very much welcome a 70-200/4 AFS VR. If it's great wide open then I'm sold because I rarely use my beloved 80-200/2.8 AFS wide open. If it performs as good or better with a 1.4TC at 280mm as my 70-300VR at 300mm then I'd be sold. Count me in.

John
eric_arnold

Sigma announced it's replacement for the 50-150 f/2.8 to include optical stabilization (OS). I find it to be the ideal focal length for APS-C sensors. I'll definitely trade in my 50-150 for it.

i wouldn't. the 50-150 is a keeper. the problem with the new one is, it's as big as a 70-200. a compact 2.8 tele makes a perfect argument for the DX format. VR on the 70-200 is nice, but i'd rather have compactness.
alex_iwonttell
They're like 20 years overdue. I've got a Sigma 50-150/2.8 ages ago. Still, yes, they should release one of course, but if they sell it for the typical 'high-end Nikkor' price, which they'll probably will, then well...

BTW where exactly does the patent say '70-200/4'?
