gpsbrar
Dear Friends,
Does any one have an experience with VersaDeals.com? I was thinking of purchasing a lens, which is $200 cheaper on their website. But I haven't heard about (good or bad) this website in the past. I was wondering if someone would like to share their experience.
Regards,
Gurpreet.
Matt Laur
The web site has no comments on resellerratings.com (a bad sign), the domain name was only registered for the first time in January of this year (a worse sign), and the domain's registration info is hidden behind a proxy service to obscure the company's ownership (an even worse sign). A small start-up company cannot sell something for hundreds less than the largest legitimate retailers unless they are deliberately losing money, or they are a scam operation. As usual, deals that seem too good to be true are just that.
William Kahn
VersaDeals.com is listed on Reseller Ratings (resellerratings.com) website but has no ratings history yet. Must be a new outfit. Caveat emptor...
Michael R Freeman
I would not touch them with the proverbial 10ft pole. Their "About Us" and "Contact Us" pages give no clue whatsoever as to their actual physical location.

Legitimate reputable web businesses do not hide their registrant info behind a proxy server. And they don't hide their physical location. These guys do not want to be found, and there is probably a reason for that.

Caveat emptor!
gpsbrar
Thank you Matt, William and Michael. I truly appreciate your feedback and am glad that I asked for opinion before making the purchase. I want to purchase Canon EF-S 10-22 mm, and it is $699 on versadeal.com... which was something too good to be true for a new lens.

oduecemba
When doing a websearch, I found that VersaDeals and FirstClassCameras are run by the same operation. You would not know this by the contact information, but both websites announced that their offices would be closed on September 29 and 30 and would reopen on October 2. Hmm, what is the likely hood that two separate companies would have the exact office closing message word-for-word?
