Good Morning Wednesday :)

My contribution this week is an image of Dahlia taken couple of weeks back. This was shot with Nikon D90, Sigma 50-150mm attached to 20mm extension tube. I didn't realize thin DOF for the first few shots, but I liked this one though DOF is thin.

Aperture f/8 1/80 ISO 200 20mm Extension Tube

Happy Wednesday!
Matt L. - very gracious dame
Peter C. - amazing look you got there from the baby
I had the gratifying but also somewhat sad privilege to take portraits of patrons at a benefit supper for a 26 year old women with incurable brain tumor. She and her family are great people and although it was hot and stressful, she found the time to pose for me for a few minutes.

00ZOSC-402035584.jpg.83dc84cf93d43cb0175faf3547de64f8.jpg

This little crab spider was such a pest. He started a web on a picture inside by our back door. I carefully carried him and his web outside and put him on a tree right outside by the back door. Woke up the next day and he had built a web across the back door so you had to walk thru it to get out. I removed the web again. The next morning I got up to the same web across the door way. I took him and his web out away from the back door this time. I woke up the next morning and went out to the trash cans and he had built this beautiful very elaborate web between two tree's. It was covered with dew and in the direct sunlight. Thought I'd share my pesky little friend with you.

Greetings from the depths of northern Ontario.
Here's Harry and Halo. She's 3mo old and Harry is 6mo old. This was the calm before the rambunctious play that saw them both slobbered up pretty good. It sure was fun watching them play but it made it very difficult to photograph them.

00ZOSY-402043684.jpg.48b0041982f0ef17a08da89318836ae1.jpg

I am blown away by the quality and variety of images thus far - thanks to everyone for sharing. My image today is Fall related and is backlit which shows up the colors more passionately. I have this Nikkor 500mm Mirror lens with a fixed aperture that has been sitting in my residence for many many years with little use. I attached it to my D300 and ran off a couple of shots just to see if I want to keep the lens or see if someone may have better use for it. Perhaps i should read my d300 manual but I did not, and had some difficulty in metering the light with this lens. Does anyone know how I can meter (vs trial and error) with this camera/lens combination?

00ZOTD-402053584.jpg.0ebf0e253386018e3cc64dcaf4c38984.jpg

Somewhat along the line from Chris' frog and Bill's angel, this shot is of a piece that I just completed as a gift to my son and DIL for their 2nd anniversary. It is a slice of anthracnose gnarled walnut that I harvested several years ago, and now put into a suspension frame. People have found a frog, a chipmunk, and a swan, not to mention a zen stream, in the swirled grain. D-700, 24-85 @28, f/3.2 with slight color correction in LR3

00ZOTR-402057584.jpg.182146324444684eac505caaae9f81e2.jpg

Wonderful shots everyone, great portrait of Uma, Matt.
Bees have been very abundant this summer in my area. Trying to take advantage of what is around, I have been practicing my bee in flight shots. This guy is so loaded down with pollen, he was a bit easier to track .
Hope you enjoy !

Once again some awesome work this week. Really enjoy all the portraits posted so far.
Thought I'd post a candid I captured recently while testing what was once a pristine Tokina 28-70 f/2.6-2.8 lens but now just a 45-70mm after being dropped. Could have done with a less cluttered background but sometimes you have to just try capture the moment as best you can. Only processing was cropping, B&W conversion and a little sharpening.

00ZOU2-402067584.jpg.429eda218bbac0ec5948d493c6e89da6.jpg
