Dropped 35GT

If the lens is still parallel to the back of the camera, the shutter may be fine. These cameras have an electronic shutter that is a bit fussy. Have you tried fresh batteries? If you plan to use (2) 3 volt lithium as a replacement for the original PX-27, you must line the inside of the battery box to avoid "shorting" the batteries, you will know they will be unusually warm. The report covers available in the stationery aisle at popular drug stores have see through covers of thin plastic. Cut a piece and roll it up and stuff it into the battery box. Now the box is insulated and the plastic should stay in place. Make sure it's only one thickness around and does not interfer with the threads of the plug. I believe your shutter will work again. Keep us posted!

I tried stacking and wrapping with tape, the batteries do not make good contact. As I mentioned before, line the battery box with thin plastic and let the two batteries slide easily with the spring in the coin slot cover resulting in the truest contact between the two batteries and the connections at each end. Make sure plus is closest to cover.

I recently bought a reconditioned 35EL from Don to try out for $50 with 6 month warranty and a battery adapter. His cost for servicing one would be $80, so in this case it was definitely cheaper to buy one. On the other hand, if you bought one on elsewhere there's a good chance you'd have to send it for a CLA anyway. I don't know if he has any of the reconditioned ELs left though.
