htarragon Posted September 11, 2011 Share Posted September 11, 2011
If I turn the radio on, I will hear the memorial services at the World Trade Center site. I have turned it off. I can remember that day without a service. Thankfully, my wife and I lost no one. We could see the burning of the towers from our apartment in the Bronx. What had been the most crystalline and peaceful of September days turned to smoke and ash and fear.
It is now ten years later and some things have changed, as we all know. But life goes on. Here are my contributions for the week:
1
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

bob_marz Posted September 11, 2011 Share Posted September 11, 2011
I don't have anything in remembrance for 9/11 except my thoughts. I hope it never happens again and wish all of the family members peace. Most parks service have learned the benefits of forest fires and regrowth, but it's still sometimes odd or surreal hiking in these lands. This was a hike to Stanley Glacier which had two forest fires, one in the 1960's and in 2003. Pyres - Pentax K10D - Tamron 18-250 - f 11.0 @ 1/180 sec - fl 20.0 - ISO 100 Morning Glow - Pentax K10D - Tamron 18-250 - f 11.0 @ 1/180sec - ISO 280 Thirst Quencher - Eau de Glacier - They sell glacier water at the Icefield Centre. jemal.yarbrough Posted September 11, 2011 Share Posted September 11, 2011
I've shot a lot this week...but these are the processed standouts. All shot in JPG (I think) with minor processing in Lightroom. Trying to focus on in camera technique. I try to keep it to three, but I'm gonna take a liberty and post 4 from this week.

Flower

Dirty pole dancing

Fences and train cars

Two lovers

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MattB.Net Posted September 11, 2011 Share Posted September 11, 2011
Yesterday a friend of mine who is an oncology nurse and cancer survivor swam the length of the largest body of water in Colorado, Blue Mesa Reservoir here in Gunnison County. She went about 15 Miles in tough conditions. She swam for about 12 hours with no wetsuit or physical contact with anything but water. Amazing. She was raising money for Rocky Mountain Cancer Assistance. I'm truly inspired by her.

K-x & Tamron 28-75 from a kayak
<a title="IMGP3313.jpg by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6196/6133833440_27673b6a54_z.jpg" alt="IMGP3313.jpg" width="640" height="425" />
.

K-x & Tamron 28-75
<a title="IMGP3374.jpg by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6078/6136901506_5dc22c30fc_z.jpg" alt="IMGP3374.jpg" width="425" height="640" />
.
And one of my son, flying the colors with a hat knitted by grandma.

K-x & Tamron 28-75
<a title="IMGP3364.jpg by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6193/6136327945_96617ee62d_z.jpg" alt="IMGP3364.jpg" width="425" height="640" />
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
michael_elenko Posted September 11, 2011 Share Posted September 11, 2011
This photograph, framed, will be offered as part of the island's annual Allied Arts auction in two weeks. It's my second year of being invited to participate. Last year was successful for both of us as my image sold for over my suggested retail price. Since it's a benefit, I only get enough to cover expenses, but the party is great and the publicity can't be beat. It is an honor to be included among such fine artists.
Commutation No. 3

Taken several years ago with a K10D and an FA 50mm f1.4 at f9.5. While evaluating which image to offer, I especially noticed the improvements that Lightroom 3.x made over the earlier version of the image that I had processed. Sharpness, noise reduction, and color rendering, and notably perspective control were all better.

ME
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

pj_vesterback Posted September 11, 2011 Share Posted September 11, 2011
I made a spur of the moment trip last weekend from Thunder Bay to Saint Louis last weekend to see two Reds - Cards games at Busch stadium. About an 1,800 mile round trip but well worth it. Peace, quiet, baseball and a beautiful city. All shot with the K10D.
<a title="Albert!!! by Fnawzm, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6089/6137929411_dac15732ee_z.jpg" alt="Albert!!!" width="640" height="428" />
ALBERT!!!
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
