Another great start to Thursday morning. I always look forward to seeing the work on this forum each week. Columbus has been having weather similar to Kentuckiana, with a bit of wind and rain thrown into the cool weather. My best shots this week were taken through the glass window of the nature center at one of our Metro Parks. I'm sure the glass cause a bit of an IQ loss, but I sure was closer to the birds than I am usually able to get. This one surprised me - at first I thought these were just boring, dull black birds. When I zoomed in I was surprised by the color. Canon EOS 50D, EF100-300 f 4.5-5.6 zoom, ISO 800, 1/25 at f 6.3.

00ZIl3-396667784.jpg.04e68e271bbc919aebdcaab6812b1eb8.jpg

The T-6 pictured here was my primary trainer. In it I learned how to do aerobatics, manage a tail wheel, do 15 turn spins from 15k feet and generally hand fly and airplane which according to CNN is becoming a lost in the automated airplanes of today. It was a very dull day but these guys were really good.

After taking some sunrise shots (smoke from forest fires made our sunrise and sunset photos on this camping trip interesting) looking east from our campsite on a ridge. I moved to the west side of our camp and captured the early morning light illuminating the Stuart Mountain Range in central Washington.

00ZIo3-396733784.jpg.8c9e8a0936a9aec1e738cb3142abf244.jpg

Lake Ranch Trail - between Olema & Dogtown (N. of Bolinas).
This exactly parallels the San Andreas Fault as it runs through Marin County. Hiking with my wife on the Labor Day holiday morning with my 7D & 16-35. There was just enough of the fog layer remaining to give me the muted effect I want -- a couple days earlier the fog was all burned off by 10 a.m. with hard sunlight coming through the Douglas Fir forest.

(Jeff's photo reminds me of Eraserhead) (Ervin & Mark K. -- killer insect captures!)
(Daniel -- shutter speed on that deformed volleyball -- 1/750?)
(Bloomington, Ind. -- LOL! I was there a lot.... that coal strike of Feb. 1978 and the coal pile dwindling at IU Physical Plant and the massive snow storm then... something else that weather. Spring Break was extended two weeks.)

00ZIoS-396739584.jpg.b521660da4bee00d12bd325a0bfa40ef.jpg

Many great shots again....

Mine is from this past weekends surfers that were enjoying the conditions left by Irene. What I'm currently working on is getting out in the water and getting shots there. This one is from a 10D w/ a Sigma 28-70 F2.8-4 lens in an "Aquapac" bag and a polorizer filter. While not anything of great importance, it did show that the bag is water tight. What I have to figure out now is how to get the camera out past the breakers (Me on surfboard with camera and microfiber towel double bagged?) and keep the front lens portion of the bag from beading up water to screw with the autofocus and resulting shot ( That will be another thread to come)
