Add html to flash site

There are some people who don't like Flash websites and others who can't access them (iPad, iPhone, etc). But, are you sure Flash is the problem? People don't just magically find your website, they usually find websites using Google or other search engines.

Make sure that the right keywords are in there. Some search engines use meta data. A good website builder will know the latest tricks. There are companies that specialize in tricks to get your website high on a search list (I don't recommend these since it is too difficult to know if they know what they are doing).

Test the search-ability of your website. Enter what you think people will search for. If your website is not on the list, you have a problem. Example "columbus portrait photographer". Try different variations (suburbs, etc). If you live in a big city and don't have a specialty, getting to the top of the list will be nearly impossible.

Google is adaptive, it remembers where people end-up in there search. The more people end up at your website using the same search criteria, the higher you will be in the search list. With Google, using the most common keywords, find your website on the list and go to it, get your friends to do the same. This can move you higher on the list.

Do you have any of the analytic programs--statistics--for your website? Something like Google Analytics (free) will tell you your bounces--people who leave when they hit the first page--as well as what people are using to look at your site--including if they have flash or javascript. This will help you determine what is happening with traffic that comes to your site--if getting traffic to the site is an issue, then see Matthew's response.

I think it would be prudent to have an html alternative if you rely on the site for your income. There are several companies that now offer this service (seems $100 is the standard!) although the html site is different. Most of these are aimed at giving mobile devices something to look at.

Flash is okay, but not for everything. One of the worst things your site does, is to use a Flash menu, which doesn't provide links that can be followed by a search engine.

You should use a good URL, like TampaWeddingPhotographer.com, or something descriptive, that will help in your search results. That one's taken, but get a URL with the right keywords in it, and you'll be surprised at your traffic.

Buy a SEO tool. You can find one for $100 (I can't remember the name of mine for the life of me). It should be able to register your site with search engines, and monitor traffic.

You've got to get the META tags right, and use them. You can't use META tags on your all-flash site. I would try to get rid of all the flash, except for the image rotators, and use HTML for the rest.

Besides the above suggestions, also buy some targeted Facebook advertising. It will drive a lot of business to your site.
