Photographer builds 4x5 Camera from Legos

<p>This may have been posted previously, but I didn't find it. A fellow Birmingham (Alabama) photographer has built a functioning 4x5 camera from Legos. I don't know her, but I applaud her efforts and the results: <a href="http://carynorton.com/legotron-mark-i">here</a>.</p>

<p>Cool article, actually. Thanks for posting! Amazing to me how once you have the basics well in hand, you can make a camera out of anything. I'd love to build an 8x10 camera someday. I thing a person could do what the Lego guy did, two boxes, that slide into each other, but made out of wood. Skip the bellows.</p>

<p>I'm tempted to make some joke about modern cameras being all made of plastic, but the right phrasing isn't coming to me.</p>

<p>It's pretty cool. Not focusing to infinity is a bit of a problem, but no doubt there's a solution to that (lens needs to come back farther... either you give up close focusing or perhaps you end up with three boxes-in-boxes with some sort of catch to prevent them from falling apart?).</p>

<p>I can just imagine shooting on the street with this thing and people wondering, "What the heck is that guy doing with that box of Legos?"</p>

<p>Can't complain about the price either. Now I'm eyeing my kids' big box of Legos that they rarely play with anymore...</p>

<p>Bill, it seems like that camera might have a pretty short shelf life.</p>

<p>It must be an English vs. American thing but I have always considered <em>Lego</em> to be both singular and plural. <em> Legos</em> sounds wrong!</p>
