jcuknz
John Farrer .... The more I use, if occasionally, my old primes with digital, my DSLR, the more dissatisfied I become with the results. I am not sure if it is the problem of film lens not having the coatings to cope with the greater reflectability of a sensor compared to 'dull' film or my lens or the old DSLR [ a D60 ] are not as good as I imagined they were. I doubt if an enlarger lens will give you good results unless photographing a flat surface? But I guess you have a collection of these old lenses around and the desire to see what one can do with them :-)

The only lens I have with a tripod bush is my 90-270 zoom but an alternative I made for other lens is a holder which fits on the tripod and has a holding ring for the lens and a screw for the camera. You can buy these from www.srbfilm.cu.uk I made my own with plastic screws from a modelling shop to hold the lens.

The photo shows my home-made gadget holding a pair of telephoto adaptors up to my old Nikon 5700 lens which doesn't have a lens thread not that I think any telescoping lens would be strong enough to carry more than a filter or CU lens. It was really dreadful to spoil the 5700 image with adaptors but an interesting experiement ... subsequently I got x12 zoom camera and tele adaptors Raynox 2020 and Oly TCON x1.7 ... much better results :-)
