Hi everyone and thanks to those who commented on my photo last week .
I'll continue the dog theme with one more from my adventure with the hunting dogs.
The trainer was not happy when the dog glanced over at me, as they are to focus only on the handler and nothing else.
Hope you enjoy!

The tropical depression never materialized here in Nags Head, NC, so we've been enjoying a beautiful week on family vacation. Our beagle woke me at 5:30, so I headed down the beach to watch the sunrise. I waded into the surf to get this pic, and as I recall this wave crashed and went right up my pants... I wouldn't forget such a thing.

00ZATF-388251584.jpg.96c3397bbf63d42a6dff91ef3d4d1d8b.jpg

Hello All,
I was enjoying a macro shoot in a field of flowers when all was disturbed by these two butterfly's fighting. They wouldn't let me get close enough to photograph them when they were sitting on the flowers but once they started fighting, the wind carried them away with me in hot pursuit manually focusing because they were banging around so much auto focus was lost.

00ZATi-388263684.JPG.7021889bad8d26ae7f1a0e3a759af0a3.JPG

Hi everyone,
Been away for a while, busy traveling for the day job. That also allows me to visit cool cities and see new sights. Recently in San Francisco and spent the day shooting the Golden Gate Bridge, day and night. Here's one just after sunset, and lucky for me, no fog.
Great entries today, keep 'em coming.

00ZATn-388265584.jpg.5ef1770dbf636ed6a191051703bff881.jpg

This is one of the ceremonial maces used by the Navy drum majors at Arlington National Cemetery. Actually, it's a very plain unit that was used while repairs were made on a more ornate orb. I was attracted by the mirror reflections that let me view the honor guard in the distance preparing for a full honors ceremony at the cemetery.
The news this week brought to mind that it's going to be very busy there the next several weeks. Many great losses.
Don Harper

00ZAUM-388285584.jpg.bae86fc189db7d4c677402da1c609e9c.jpg

Happy Nikon Wednesday to all!

My cousin got married last Saturday, and I was kinda asked to take few shots of the special day so I got to try how I would do as a wedding photographer. Phew, it was fun but really hard work, I tip my hat to you pro wedding photographers here! However, I got some really nice shots, this one was one of my favorites.

Hamish, that photo made my heart jump and I'm not even afraid of heights! Aguinaldo, that shot makes me want a fisheye, and I've never wanted one before. Gary, I love Cowgirl. I'm a sucker for the dog photos, Matt Laur and Roberta! Mine was taken at the parking lot of a hiking trail, the dragonfly looked like it had been crucified.
First, very nice pictures everyone! Here's a portrait of my youngest son. Taken with a D300 and one of my favorite lenses, the Nikkor AF-D 85/1.8 at 1/250 and f5.6, ISO 200, WB Clouds and off-camera SB-800 flash mounted on a 100mm Lastolite Umbrella kit to the right and a round Lastolite reflector on the left.

00ZAX9-388345584.jpg.6c832cec4ba589c9537f94205303d061.jpg
