jason_wong7
I currently own a Canon T2i and 28-135mm--- Are there any recommendations on a cheap external flash that I could use for some nice portraits?
JosvanEekelen
Canon EX 430 II. Similar offerings from other manufacturers (Sigma, Metz). Or 2nd hand Canon 550 or 580. Search the archives, this question is asked quite frequently.
michaeljlawson
Not knowing what you believe "Cheap" really is, I would second the 430 EX II. I use mine on my XTi often. There are several 3rd party flashes that would work that cost less. Try reading the below articles, see if it helps any:
http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/#whichflash
http://photonotes.org/articles/beginner-faq/flash.html
mukul_dube
You should search the web sites of the major retailers for compatible flashes: those that will do TTL with your camera. For portraiture a single flash is not the best solution, although it can give acceptable results if you bounce the light or use some sort of diffuser.
