Did I kill my 5d sensor?

Cleaned my sensor today with Eclipsed pre-moistened swabs. Used all 3 sensor swabs to get the sensor clean, watched the tutorial

on Photographic Solutions website. Says to press down with enough pressure as to bend the swab.

Seemed all good and well, took some pictures and downloaded to Lightroom. The pictures are distorted, split horizontally with all

sorts of color? Not all photo's, every third or fourth picture is messed up?

I switched CF card with the same results. Did I press to hard on my sensor or was there not enough sensor cleaner on swab?

Has anyone had a similar experience? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

You certainly may have destroyed the sensor, but it's also possible residue left on the sensor has caused distortion, colors screwed up and the other problems. Of course if that were the case, then the distortions should be consistent. Could you post some examples?

My gut says it's probably pretty likely that you damaged either the sensor, or (marginally more likely) it's connection to the board, especially since there is inconsistency in the images.

Michael, sorry to hear about your troubles.

I do recall that the filter of the 5D has a lot of trouble, when certain cleaning fluids are used. If all else has failed, you could try a cleaning with a SensorKlear pen, before sending it off to Canon for service.

You should not do anything at this point of time. Send it to one of the Canon Factory Service Centers. If they can clean the sensor, you're lucky. If you have ruined the sensor while cleaning, think of buying a new one.

I agree with Alan. This is not residue on the sensor. The second image looks really weird as if it contains 2 images. Electronic or shutter. Try a factory reset as Mike suggests. I've cleaned my 5D sensor a number of times using Sensorklear Pro with no problems whatsoever. If a reset doesn't work, send it back to Canon. Good luck.

and the correct answer is.......................MESSED up pc card reader! Thank the lucky stars!
I viewed the pictures on the camera LCD as suggested by Michael and they are fine? Downloaded the pictures to my ipad and they are fine! It must be my built in card reader in my hp desktop which I have already replaced a year or so ago.
Thanks for everyones input! I guess I'll have to wait for the next 5d mark III? :)
