ralf_j.
This show has been my monthly entertainment for quite some time, however this July, it was quite small as some of the regular vendors were on vacation. My findings were small as well, but nevertheless I left happy.
I came home with a clean and working Contaflex III $25, and a super clean Zorki C, @ $40 made about 1957 at the KMZ factory in Krasnogorsk.

Zorki seems straight forward enough, a bit rougher than my IIIf, however one setting has me puzzled. there is a milled notch with an opened window around the shutter speed collar which, my guessing suggests it is a slow speed dial controller; as in the Leica fashion, you set the main shutter speed dial to the slowest speed (usually 1/25) and then you can maneuver the slow speeds; no such luck here. If that is not the slow speed dial then what is it there for?

Anyway, here is the loot:

Contaflex III Front

Contaflex III Profile

Zorki C Front

Zorki C Profile

steven_bristow
I do believe that second dial is actually a flash sync delay setting.
Rick_van_Nooij
Nice acquisitions, Ralf.

Steve's right. It is the flash sync delay.
The shutter on my C get's a little slow on the fastest speed if I don't exercise it regularly. The flash-sync setting might also be the cause of that.

ralf_j.
Thanks Steve and Rick, then the camera seems to function correctly. Shutter seems more or less accurate, after I tested it through the white business card trick.
rick_drawbridge
Whooo!...That Contaflex certainly floats my boat! Not that I'd mind the Zorki too much, either. You wouldn't get either camera for anywhere near those dollars, down here. Time to migrate...
Rick_van_Nooij
I paid $60 for my Zorki C....admittedly it had a KMZ turret finder attached that I wanted. So it kind-of evened out.
gnashings
Handsome cameras both! Good prices too, especially since they look just about pristine. I have resisted the Soviet era RF's for a long time... but I don't know how much longer I can hold out.

chuck_foreman1
Lucky You Ralf.. Nice finds and I love that Red Zorki. That's the whole thing with the C.. the flash synch! or is it the Cznyk? for tha matter the kitchen Sink! Great prices too!! That Contaflex is really clean I think you've been taking courses from Rick D in how to do product presentation, I'd say I have the same model..only I don't think mine has the flash shoe on the prism or anywhere else... for that matter! Please shoot them both! That Tessar is really nice.. I can swap it with the his brother on the Super -B which is a great performer! I never have gotten the supplemental lenses But you... I think you'll soon be gunning for them! Love that redo Zorki!!

ralf_j.
Thank you for commenting and appreciating works of art here; goes without saying that the statement of "they do not make them like they used to, works well here"
