LeTGiao_Gallery
I have a Nikon EM body whose rewind crank is broken, preventing me from opening the back door. Is there any way to open the back door to repair the rewind crank/knob? Please share your experience/knowledge regarding this "stuck" issue. Thank you all.
paul_wheatland
It's happened to me before. Assuming the stem is still sticking up, grab it with pliers and pull up. But if the stem fell down inside, take a large paper clip, straighten part of it and bend that end into a tight hairpin curve. Now reach inside the the well of the rewind assembly, keep turning the clip until it catches on the release, tug upward and you're good to go!

ian_gordon_bilson
A common problem with this cute, but fragile camera.
You can prevent it happening again by adding a little quick-set epoxy resin to reinforce the under-engineered strength of the component.
When these little marvels work, they are ,indeed, adorable.
LeTGiao_Gallery
Thanks for your input, Paul and Ian.
I was able to open the film door by means of a paper clip with one end turned into a small hook, as Paul suggested. It took me about 2 mins to find the right location, exert some upward pullings and lo and behold, the film door sprung up.
