Once again, a lot of great shots here already and looking forward to seeing what everyone else has to share.
These two barred owl babies were pledged from the nest less than two weeks ago. This was as close as I could get to them and as unobstructed a shot as I could get, as well. Shot with my 50D and EF 100-300mm USM f4.5-5.6 at 300mm f5.6 and 1/50 sec, with the camera on tripod using Live View. Cropped in quite a bit to get this, but considering the situation, I'm pretty happy with the results.

00Ytmd-369927584.jpg.43cec170677aa2b9ea03a21c4fd5416d.jpg

"In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue" His ships were the Pinta, Nina and Santa Maria. The foreground is a Pinta replica. The background contains a Nina replica. They are painted a dull black with wirtually no luminosity. Hard to photograph. Made yesterday.
00Ytn7-369945584.jpg.89dbe89ca27e781d13b191d2179473db.jpg

Wow. So many interesting images!

Mine is from last weekend at the Los Angeles Southwest College, where the annual L.A. Watts Summer Games is being held. LAWSG is like the Olympics for California high school athletes. Fun stuff!

I haven't been out w/ the camera for a couple of weeks now so I have to dig into past efforts.

I really love the southwest and Arches is among the top faves, so here is a shot overlooking a jumble of rocks at Arches. This shot was taken in December of 2008, the 28th to be exact.

This was taken with:

Lots of excellent photos on page one already! (the first 25 posts). Esp. Hadi's 300mm photo of the runners in the sprinklers... Mark K's small fly is a winner too. More later in a separate post.
This one is from a nice scene Sunday morning during one of my hikes with my wife. Young redwoods along Dawn Falls trail (just above Larkspur, Calif.).
EOS 7D, 16-35 at 21mm, ISO 800, f/7.1, 1/160.

00Ytpm-369983584.jpg.acb63271b2d24ad7a574907a311bc165.jpg
