Is it of value to you?

I'm proposing a workshop dedicated to studio lighting based upon the premise of focusing on the "why" as well as the "how". While embracing all the latest in technology (CLS, E-TTL), I first want to backtrack to the basics of why a light does what it does - and why a modifier does what it does, etc. The result is a comprehensive overview of a workable photographic theory that empowers the student with a complete understanding of lighting principles and enables the student to cope with almost any circumstance - situation or limitation. This is a different class as we're not telling folks where to put a light - we're telling why to put the light in a particular spot and how it will effect the result then how it will effect the other lights as well. Background control, inside outside where ever.
OK, that's way to brief a description - I hope you get the gist. Now would such a class be of interest or value to you - or are you fine letting your cameras automation handle the technicals?
Does understanding the photographic craft - the basic lighting causes and effects have value to you - or is it unimportant?

It is important for me. I have been looking for such a class in the NY area. The problem is that it is not useful with just theory. It has to be done with hands on with lights as well to make sure folks understand the bad lighting as well.
I many times dont know the bad lighting until after the shoot and get feedback from others. So not only showing the good lighting, but showing the bad lighting and explaining how to make it better would be the best. In my mind this is similar to the difference between a good apprenticeship vs bad apprenticeship.

Thanks for your feedback - this class will take place in a working studio location and everything - each principle - concept and approach is demonstrated. Totally hands on.
By the way, I'm not selling anything here - just wondering before I take the plunge in Denver if it is appealing to today's shooters. I've been at this a long time and need a current perspective.
