Colorized black and whites

Hey Gang, I know that the colorized black and white is popular in some necks of the woods, and I know the origin of them and respect their beginnings.
I'm looking for some inspiration for modern day uses of them, properly masked, tastefully done, not simply done for the sake of it.
If anyone knows of particularly well done wedding images with a spot color, I'd love for you to either post a link, send me elsewhere or post an image.
Be forewarned, most of the time when I see what is submitted and asked for, all I see are zombies holding bouquets. Particularly egregious is one I remember of all the flower girls dresses in color and everything else b/w. Ummm, they kind of don't look alive to me.

I'm not trying to start a flame post, just seeking some of the more established or aware, and less face it, open minded(to this subject) people to point me in a direction where I can learn to appreciate the genre again.

To be fair I did recently see what I considered an interesting twist, namely the couple was embracing in a crowd, the crowd was only lightly touched with a desaturation effect, not total, maybe 60-75%, I thought it had a nice quality to it, accentuating the couple, but not at the cost of being, IMO, tacky.

Any thoughts? Or is this genre dead?
Thanks
Daniel

In India almost every wedding album has photos of the bridge wearing jewellery where the jewellery is the only piece in color and the rest of the photo is in B&W.
This is done to show the gold being given tot he girl by the girls parents and it looks nice as well.Jewellery is a very important part of Indian Weddings
Remember that the tastes of many Indians might seem tacky here in US and vice versa, but I think this use of selective desaturation is a staple right now in Indian wedding photography.

Looks to me like this a challenge to show you something that you would find agreeable to your subjective tastes....... I've produced several images using spot coloring that I like, I've also done some subtle desaturation and duo-tone images that I like........ However, judging from your "show me something that I would like" tone, I'd be surprised if any images would rise to your standards of inspiration.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything that fits into the category you are looking for Daniel, but haven't seen anything lately in that genre. Very few of my brides have been asking for it. When I mention that as an option, they usually agree that it may eventually look dated. But they do seem to like other elements of post processing that are en vogue right now. i.e. making it look more editorial and gritty, like the Annie Leibovitz disney dream portraits, take it to an extreme. But a la a fashion mag more or less, or even giving it that painterly feel. These are links to some of the disney dream portraits. I don't know if that is ok or not within the terms of use Nadine. If she has to take down the links, just do a google image search of Annie Leibovitz disney dream portraits.

on adobe LR, the preset bluish awesomeness (which I found for free somewhere on the internet, email me if you want the preset) seems to give an effect that each time my clients go, OHHHH!!! I LOVE THAT! So artistic! I feel like I'm in a magazine! Will that someday look dated, probably too, but it's a little less faddish I think than the spot coloring. But then again that could come back again. It was all the rage when people were hand coloring images =) I had fun doing that in college when taking a B&W course. My professor brought out a set of paints that looked and smelled like they were from the early 1900s, but they did the trick.
